| CAMPAIGN ISSUES |
Safety and Security
I believe that one of the core obligations of Crystal Lake government is to provide protection to the people and businesses in the city. To that end, if elected I will:
• Advocate for an increase in the officer to citizen ratio
• Support efforts to quell any increase in gang activity in Crystal Lake
• Ensure that the Police and Fire Departments are adequately equipped and staffed to perform their duties

Control Spending and Taxes
I believe that government should be responsible to be fiscally prudent, meet it’s primary obligations and pass along tax increases only in the most extreme circumstances. To that end, if elected I will:
• Vote in favor of budgets that support the primary obligations of the Crystal Lake city government
;Safety and Security, Infrastructure, Planning, Zoning & Building Controls
• Vote against any tax increases not required to support primary obligations
• Identify opportunities and advocate for the reduction of the 2008
sales tax increase
• Review and propose ordinance changes to reduce costs and red tape to the city, people and business

Open & Accessible Government
I believe that government needs to do it’s work out in the open and that easy access to city documents will increase accountability and reduce the probability illegal activities within city government. If elected I will:
• Advocate for policy changes that provide the people increased online access to city documents
• Fight to provide the people affordable printing service for hard copies of city documents

Infrastructure
I believe that in order to support the ongoing needs of the people and to remain attractive to developers and businesses, Crystal Lake needs to support its core infrastructure. If elected I will:
• Support long term budgeted funding for ongoing road maintenance
• Advocate for upgrades in the city water and sewer systems
• Provide support the work being done by city staff to address flooding issues around Crystal Lake

Economic Development
Crystal Lake is dependant upon our business community’s success and growth as a key component to the cities longevity. If elected, I will:
• Provide support for development projects that maintain the character of the community
• Ensure that key city functions are maintained to increase attractiveness to potential developers or businesses
• Advocate for a complete review of city ordinances to identify and rectify issues that may prevent developers or business from locating to Crystal Lake
• Provide continued support of Hotel Tax revenues to support community efforts to attract tourism to Crystal Lake
• Advocate for Economic Development Commission activities that are cost effective and whose impact can be validated

Vulcan Lakes Recreational Area
If elected I will support ongoing development of the site provided that:
• There is a definitive upturn in the local and national economy
• Future development is paid for out of TIF district funds and not through a further increase in taxes to the citizens of Crystal Lake
•A complete cost projection, including the cost of ongoing staffing and are maintenance is found to be economically feasible, and self sufficient without a requirement for additional taxes
